Titanium axles
will decrease your unsuspended weight. Our axles are equal in strength to
steel but the hardness of titanium is less. For this reason we recommend the application
of a protective coating. In past years, Teflon or Titanium Nitride was used
for the coating but does not hold up to the punishment encountered from
aggressive riding. Mettec now offers an aerospace derived coating called Quadralloy. Quadralloy increases the surface hardness and reduces the wear
caused by the bearing contact point on the axle surface. By increasing the
surface hardness wear is significantly reduced but not stopped. |
